Current Research

My research topic is the functional development of the cardio-respiratory system in transparent model animals, like zebrafish (Danio rerio) or the African clawed frog (Xenopus laevis).  Custom made non-invasive computer assisted image analysis enables to measure a broad portfolio of cardio-respiratory parameters. In parallel molecular biological parameters like gene and protein expression are take into account to produce a holistic view of the early developmental processes.
