Data migration from Fileshare (Seafile) to UNIverse (Nextcloud)
Quick guide
- Download the Nextcloud client (UNIverse).
- Download the Seafile client (file-sharing).
- In the Seafile client, select Download and Synchronise for the files you wish to migrate.
- Select the folder that is synchronised with the Nextloud client as the local storage location.
Downloading and synchronising may take several minutes. You can monitor the progress of the upload and download in the respective clients.
Once you have synchronised all the desired libraries locally, you can uninstall the Seafile client. The files will remain stored locally.
Note:
If you reinstall the Nextcloud client, select Choose what to sync in the next window and uncheck all folders. Even if you haven’t uploaded anything yet, there are still some files (templates, photos, information about Nextcloud) that you probably don’t want to keep on your local computer.

Share a folder with people
If the folder you require is intended to serve as a storage space for a project, a department or a working group that is not linked to a specific individual, UNIverse offers the option of a so-called team folder. These can be requested via ZID-Service@uibk.ac.at.
