Heatwave in Innsbruck: We’d love to hear about your experiences

Online survey on coping with heat in the city

Hot days and warm nights are posing increasing challenges for cities. In Innsbruck, too, the heat is becoming more noticeable in everyday life for many people: in their homes, at work, whilst travelling through the city, in public spaces, or when using green spaces and recreational areas.

With this survey, we aim to gain a better understanding of how people in Innsbruck perceive heat, which locations are experienced as particularly stressful, and what measures the public believes would be helpful. Your experiences are important for the practical development of research into urban heat, climate change adaptation and liveable urban spaces.

The survey takes around X minutes to complete and is voluntary. The results will be used exclusively for scientific purposes. No prior knowledge is required.

To the online survey:

Who can take part?

Anyone who lives, works, studies or regularly spends time in Innsbruck is welcome to take part. Specific experiences from everyday life are particularly helpful: Where is the heat perceived as a burden? Which places offer relief from the heat? What measures would improve quality of life?

Why is your participation important?

Cities react to heat in different ways. Sealed surfaces, dense development, a lack of shade and restricted air circulation can exacerbate the heat stress. At the same time, green spaces, water, shade and well-designed public spaces can help to cool the city.

Your answers will help us to highlight local experiences and improve the scientific basis for climate-adapted urban development.
