Peter Schönswetter, Professor of Botany at the University of Innsbruck, leads the Biodiversity Research Group there and deals with the various levels of biodiversity in mountain regions, taking into account the effects of climate changes at the level of individuals, populations, and plant communities.

About
Peter Schönswetter has been a professor of botany at the University of Innsbruck since 2010 and is director of the Botanical Garden Innsbruck. With the help of the cutting-edge methodology he aims at reconstructing the origin of the high biodiversity in mountain areas and to understand its composition. Schönswetter is also a corresponding member of the Austrian Academy of Sciences and the deputy chairman of the Nature Conservation Advisory Board of the Tyrolean state government.
