Lucas Pohl is a professor of human geography and heads the working group for critical urban and environmental geography at the Department of Geography at the University of Innsbruck. His research focuses on topics such as the dynamics of urban development in the context of planetary crises, social challenges and political decision-making in times of climate change, and geographical imaginaries of possible futures in the Anthropocene. He also works on psychoanalytic approaches in urban and environmental research in order to better understand unconscious social patterns and conflicts.

About
Lucas Pohl completed his studies in human geography in 2015 and received his doctorate from Goethe University Frankfurt am Main in 2020. He then worked at the Department of Geography at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin and conducted research at the Collaborative Research Centre ‘Re-figuration of Spaces’ at the Technical University of Berlin and at the Research Training Group ‘Urban Future-Making’ at HafenCity University Hamburg. Since 2025, he is Professor of Human Geography at the University of Innsbruck.
