Lando Kirchmair is Euregio Endowed Chair in Sustainability and Mobility Law at the Department of Theory and Future of Law at the University of Innsbruck. He focuses in particular on sustainability and mobility issues in International and European Public Law. His research focuses on the legal position of future generations, law and climate change, issues of sustainable mobility (in particular self-driving cars), and the sustainability of the rule of law and democracy.

About

Lando Kirchmair studied Law, Business Law, Spanish, Portuguese, and Psychology at the Universities of Innsbruck, Salamanca, and Salzburg. In 2013, he received his doctorate from the University of Salzburg. His academic career has taken him to Strasbourg, Petropolis, Heidelberg, Budapest, and Vienna, among other places. He habilitated at the Department of Social Sciences and Public Affairs at the University of the Bundeswehr in Munich in 2020 and received his venia legendi for Public Law, Public International Law, EU Law, and Legal Philosophy. There, he was a long-term Deputy Professor for National and International Public Law with a Focus on the Protection of Cultural Property.

In 2025, he was appointed to the Euregio Endowed Chair for Sustainability and Mobility Law at the Institute for Theory and Future of Law at the Faculty of Law of the University of Innsbruck.
