More than 450 international applicants took part in the admission test for DIGISOC. For those who have successfully completed the selection process, a new stage of education is now beginning with entry into a joint European master’s programme that addresses the social, ethical and political dimensions of digital transformation.

DIGISOC – Digital Society, Social Innovation and Global Citizenship – is jointly designed and delivered by the University of Innsbruck, the University of Naples Federico II and Palacký University Olomouc. As an English-taught programme with 120 ECTS credits, it combines interdisciplinary, international teaching, and a strong commitment to European cooperation.

“The special feature of DIGISOC is that students become part of a truly shared European learning environment right from the start,” says Johannes Seiler, Programme Coordinator at the University of Innsbruck. “The programme combines interdisciplinary perspectives on digital transformation with academic excellence, social responsibility, international mobility and a strong spirit of European cooperation.”

Joint curriculum offered by three universities

A distinctive feature of DIGISOC is its coherent European learning environment. Teaching, communication and many administrative processes are organised via the shared OpenOlat platform creating a common academic space across three universities and three national contexts. For students, this means a consistent teaching and learning environment throughout the entire programme. For the consortium, it also reflects the operationalised shared governance and the close administrative cooperation in the day-to-day delivery of the programme.

The joint curriculum offers a wide range of opportunities for individual specialisation. Within the framework of “Individual Learning Paths”, students can shape parts of their competence profile and integrate recognised additional learning opportunities, including, for example, micro-credentials from partner universities, from companies in the EURIDICE consortium, as well as other educational offers that meaningfully complement the qualification profile of graduates. In this way, the programme combines academic coherence with flexibility and innovative strength.

“DIGISOC is an excellent example of how European higher education cooperation can create added value for students,” says Janette Walde, Vice-Rector for Teaching and Students at the University of Innsbruck. “The programme combines academic quality, international experience and innovative programme design.”

DIGISOC is therefore more than an international master’s programme. It is a concrete example of how European Higher Education cooperation can be implemented in practice: jointly designed, student-centred, mobility-oriented and clearly aligned with the objectives of a European Degree.

With the release of the admission results, the second DIGISOC cohort is warmly welcomed.
