
Universität Innsbruck is part of a global network of over 350 partner universities and actively engages in cross-border research and teaching cooperation. As a member of the European University Alliance Aurora, it plays an active role in transnational alliances of higher education institutions that are paving the way towards the universities of the future.

Universität Innsbruck is an open-minded institution that embraces international exchange across all areas of university life and for all members of the university community. The unit for International Affairs serves as the central hub for establishing, fostering, and further developing this culture at the university.

In addition to promoting the internationalization of the University of Innsbruck and establishing and maintaining international collaborations and partnerships, the International Affairs are also responsible for supporting students and staff with all matters related to international activities. We provide advice on study and exchange programs, internships abroad, and financial funding opportunities available to you.

The University of Innsbruck wins the Internationalisation Award 2025
The University of Innsbruck was awarded first place in the Internationalisation Award 2025 for its program "Strategisch International: Zertifikat Internationalisierung Allgemeines Personal".

University of Innsbruck expands network in Canada
A delegation from the University of Innsbruck visited Simon Fraser University (SFU) in Burnaby near Vancouver, British Columbia, at the end of October 2025 to deepen institutional relations.

European-Canadian Spring Academy
How does collective memory shape who we are – and who we want to become? What role do cultural practices of remembrance play in addressing today’s challenges and imagining more just and sustainable futures? These questions lie at the heart of the international seminar week. Registration deadline: March 15, 2026.

Competition: "Ma Thèse en 180 secondes"
The competition "Ma Thèse en 180 secondes" ("My Thesis in 180 Seconds") is being held in Austria for the 8th time. Doctoral candidates from all disciplines present their dissertations in French in just three minutes, with the aim of convincing both the jury and the audience. The competition is open to all disciplines.

Meilenstein für Europäischen Bildungsraum
Mit dem gemeinsamen Angebot des Microcredentials Understanding Europe setzen die Universitäten Innsbruck und Duisburg-Essen einen zentralen Meilenstein für die Weiterentwicklung des Europäischen Bildungsraums. Es richtet sich an Bachelorstudierende aller Disziplinen und steht Studierenden aller Aurora-Partneruniversitäten offen.
Euregio fördert 24 Uni-Austauschprojekte
Im Studienjahr 2025/2026 unterstützt die Euregio Tirol-Südtirol-Trentino erneut den Austausch und die Mobilität von Studierenden, Professorinnen und Professoren sowie Dozentinnen und Dozenten zwischen den Universitäten Innsbruck, Bozen und Trient. Über den EuregioMobilityFund stellt sie dafür rund 143.000 Euro zur Verfügung.
Erste Internationale Staff Week ein voller Erfolg
Vom 17. bis 20. November 2025 kamen 20 Mitarbeitende von Universitäten aus ganz Europa nach Innsbruck. Vier Tage voller Austausch, neuer Ideen und spannender Einblicke zeigten, wie Hochschulen voneinander lernen und gemeinsam wachsen können.
„FutureForests“ erforscht Europas Wälder im Wandel
Das Horizon Europe-Projekt „FutureForests“ vernetzt neun große Waldforschungsstandorte in Europa, um zu untersuchen, wie Wälder auf globale Umweltveränderungen reagieren. Unter Leitung der Universität Birmingham forschen 15 Doktorand:innen – zwei davon an der Universität Innsbruck – an Lösungen für widerstandsfähige Wälder der Zukunft.
