Universität Innsbruck is part of a global network of over 350 partner universities and actively engages in cross-border research and teaching cooperation. As a member of the European University Alliance Aurora, it plays an active role in transnational alliances of higher education institutions that are paving the way towards the universities of the future.
Universität Innsbruck is an open-minded institution that embraces international exchange across all areas of university life and for all members of the university community. The unit for International Affairs serves as the central hub for establishing, fostering, and further developing this culture at the university.
In addition to promoting the internationalization of the University of Innsbruck and establishing and maintaining international collaborations and partnerships, the International Affairs are also responsible for supporting students and staff with all matters related to international activities. We provide advice on study and exchange programs, internships abroad, and financial funding opportunities available to you.

EUniverCities Network Exchanges Ideas in Innsbruck
The City of Innsbruck and the University of Innsbruck hosted the international network meeting of EUniverCities from Wednesday to Friday, March 25–27. The focus was on the topic of sport in the context of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In this context, health and well-being represent both a central challenge and an opportunity for European cities.
Three minutes that captivate: “My Thesis in 180 Seconds”
At the Austrian final of the competition "My Thesis in 180 Seconds" on March 17 in Vienna, early-career researchers demonstrated how engaging research can be presented. Maja Klostermann, a doctoral candidate at the University of Innsbruck, particularly captivated the audience and secured the Audience Award.
Euregio Summer School 2026
The Euregio Platform EUPHUR has a particular offer to students from the three Euregio-Universities. From 12-16 May the Euregio Summer School “Technological Transformation in Healthcare: Challenges and Responsibilities” takes place at the Culture Center Dobbiaco. For students from the Euregio-Universities this event will be free of charge (baord, lodge, travel). The number of paricipants is limited to 30. Registration as soon as possible is recommended.
Aurora Network welcomes University of Sussex as Partner
The Aurora Universities Network is expanding its international partnership network: the University of Sussex has joined the network as a Strategic Partner as of February 2026. The collaboration was formalised through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), marking an important step toward potential full membership of the British university.

Universität Innsbruck vernetzt sich in Hongkong
Zur Vertiefung der Partnerschaften im asiatisch-pazifischen Raum hat die Universität Innsbruck, vertreten durch die Internationalen Angelegenheiten, vor kurzem an der Jahreskonferenz der Asia-Pacific Association for International Education (APAIE) teilgenommen. Diese fand von 23.-27.2. in Hongkong statt und bot vielfältige Möglichkeiten zum Austausch und Vor-Ort-Besuchen bei Partneruniversitäten.
University of Alberta: Bewerbung für Faculty Exchange bis 15. März
Die Universität Innsbruck und die University of Alberta setzen ihre enge Zusammenarbeit fort und stärken den internationalen Austausch auf beiden Seiten. Am 18. Februar war die Professorin Dominique Reill zu Gast an der Universität Innsbruck. Eine aktuelle Ausschreibung für ein Faculty-Exchange-Programm läuft noch bis 15. März.
Meilenstein für Europäischen Bildungsraum
Mit dem gemeinsamen Angebot des Microcredentials Understanding Europe setzen die Universitäten Innsbruck und Duisburg-Essen einen zentralen Meilenstein für die Weiterentwicklung des Europäischen Bildungsraums. Es richtet sich an Bachelorstudierende aller Disziplinen und steht Studierenden aller Aurora-Partneruniversitäten offen.
Euregio fördert 24 Uni-Austauschprojekte
Im Studienjahr 2025/2026 unterstützt die Euregio Tirol-Südtirol-Trentino erneut den Austausch und die Mobilität von Studierenden, Professorinnen und Professoren sowie Dozentinnen und Dozenten zwischen den Universitäten Innsbruck, Bozen und Trient. Über den EuregioMobilityFund stellt sie dafür rund 143.000 Euro zur Verfügung.
