
Universität Innsbruck is part of a global network of over 350 partner universities and actively engages in cross-border research and teaching cooperation. As a member of the European University Alliance Aurora, it plays an active role in transnational alliances of higher education institutions that are paving the way towards the universities of the future.

Universität Innsbruck is an open-minded institution that embraces international exchange across all areas of university life and for all members of the university community. The unit for International Affairs serves as the central hub for establishing, fostering, and further developing this culture at the university.

In addition to promoting the internationalization of the University of Innsbruck and establishing and maintaining international collaborations and partnerships, the International Affairs are also responsible for supporting students and staff with all matters related to international activities. We provide advice on study and exchange programs, internships abroad, and financial funding opportunities available to you.

From Innsbruck to Edmonton: A Month of Meaningful Exchange
This September, Dr. Jasmin Peskoller of the University of Innsbruck brought fresh insight and intercultural dialogue to Edmonton during her dynamic month-long residency at the University of Alberta - bridging classrooms, cultures, and communities.

University of Innsbruck expands network in Canada
A delegation from the University of Innsbruck visited Simon Fraser University (SFU) in Burnaby near Vancouver, British Columbia, at the end of October 2025 to deepen institutional relations. During the visit, two cooperation agreements were signed, which will enable closer cooperation between the University of Innsbruck and Simon Fraser University in the future, as well as the association of Simon Fraser University with the Aurora Network.

„FutureForests“ erforscht Europas Wälder im Wandel
Das Horizon Europe-Projekt „FutureForests“ vernetzt neun große Waldforschungsstandorte in Europa, um zu untersuchen, wie Wälder auf globale Umweltveränderungen reagieren. Unter Leitung der Universität Birmingham forschen 15 Doktorand:innen – zwei davon an der Universität Innsbruck – an Lösungen für widerstandsfähige Wälder der Zukunft.
Ein neues Kulturlexikon verbindet Österreich und Frankreich
Kulturelle Liaisons: Ein Gemeinschaftsprojekt der Universität Innsbruck und der Université de Lorraine beleuchtet den Kulturaustausch zwischen Österreich und Frankreich von 1740 bis zur Gegenwart. Das Ergebnis des stetig wachsenden Projektes ist online abrufbar.
Das Wassermanagement des antiken Arles
Mithilfe von Karbonatfragmenten haben Forschende aus Mainz, Oxford und Innsbruck die komplexe Geschichte des Aquäduktsystems von Arles entschlüsselt. Am Institut für Geologie wurden dafür hochaufgelöste Isotopenmessungen an den Kalkkrusten durchgeführt, mit denen die Verwendung dieser Wasserleitungssysteme über die Zeit zu verfolgen kann.
Grenzüberschreitende Gebirgsarchäologie
Vom 13. bis 16. Mai 2025 fand der Euregio-Workshop „Mountain Archaeology Beyond Borders“ (MABB) mit Lehrenden und Studierenden aus Innsbruck und Trient statt. Bei Vorträgen, Exkursionen und Besuchen von Forschungseinrichtungen stand der wissenschaftliche Austausch im Mittelpunkt. Im August folgt der Gegenbesuch in Trient.
