Guidelines

For courses where assessment is based on a single examination at the end of the course, three examination dates are offered within two semesters. The examination dates and the link for registration/deregistration can be found at Course catalogue for the respective course.

For Computer Science, general registration and cancellation deadlines apply for all lecture examinations (valid for face-to-face teaching):

  • Start of registration:
    5 weeks before the exam
  • Registration deadline:
2 weeks before the exam (late registrations by e-mail will not be considered!)
  • Cancellation deadline:
    48 hours before the exam

If a student fails to attend an examination without a valid reason, they will be barred from attending the next examination!

It is strongly recommended that the course examinations offered are taken immediately after the end of the course!

The third and fourth repetition (= fourth and fifth attempt) of an examination must be held before an examination board if the examination is carried out in the form of a single examination procedure (e.g. lecture examination). At the student's request, this also applies to the second resit (= third attempt). The student must complete the form 'Application for admission to the third and fourth resit of a course examination' and submit it to the Examinations Office at least 2 weeks before the examination. The Form and further information are available at Study profile page.

The examination senate is selected in consultation with the course lecturer in accordance with this Prerequisites. Students are entitled to make their wishes regarding the examiner known when registering (Statutes § 19). The signature of the Director of Studies is obtained from the Examinations Office.

Course instructors must inform students of the examination method for course examinations (written/oral) before the start of each semester. The specified examination method does not change if the examination is held by a committee, unless the student can prove a longer-lasting disability that makes it impossible for him or her to take the examination in the prescribed form (Statutes § 22).

Students are not entitled to an individual examination date; the examination dates set for a course must be taken. However, personal agreements between students and examiners are permitted (Statutes § 16).

Negatively assessed courses with an immanent examination character must be repeated in their entirety.

Students are entitled to repeat positively assessed examinations once up to 12 months after taking them (...). The positively assessed examination becomes null and void when the repeat examination is taken - UG 2002 § 77 (1).

It is recommended to contact the Study representation to contact the

This procedure is regulated in the curriculum.

For courses with a limited number of participants, places are allocated as follows:

  1. Students whose deferral would result in an extension of the study period are to be given priority for admission.
  2. If criterion Z1 is not sufficient to regulate admission to a course, students for whom this course is part of a compulsory module shall be given first preference and students for whom this course is part of an elective module shall be given second preference.
  3. If criteria Z1 and Z2 are not sufficient to regulate admission to a course, the available places will be allocated by lottery.

Students who are not present on the first date of a course with an immanent examination character (PS, SE, VU, PR, PJ) are not entitled to a place.
