Semester project in the proseminar: Development of an IoT-based software solution
The Software Engineering proseminar in the Bachelor's degree programme in Computer Science ended this year with a team competition, albeit in a reduced form due to the coronavirus. 23 participating teams worked on different solutions for a simulated business assignment.
Productivity analysis in software projects
In software development, developers often work on several projects. The challenge for companies and employees is to remain efficient in the individual projects in order to meet the project goals. Students on the Bachelor's degree programme in Computer Science were asked to programme an IoT-based software solution for productivity analysis. They developed a web-based application customised for the client, which is linked to an interactive time tracker. The software solution had to fulfil a number of requirements, support specific workflows and include some special features.
The "In_Time" team of Maximilian Ebner, Markus Egger, Johannes Niederhauser, Volkan Sagcan and Christina Schwaiger impressed with the consistently high quality of the entire project. The software was particularly impressive when it came to setting up the cubes and the Raspberry Pi, thanks to the ease of use of the software even with more complex processes and a very appealing GU. Second place went to the "Prodiga" team and third place to the "Time Track" team.
Software Engineering Prize 2020
The "Software Engineering Prize 2020", in other years the IT Prize of the City of Innsbruck, is awarded annually to students of the Bachelor's degree programme in Computer Science who work on a specific task as part of the "Software Engineering" course.
