Industry partners and students collaborate on joint project in Master's programme in Software Engineering

This summer semester, Master's students had the opportunity to work together with experts from the field for the first time. From conceptualisation to implementation and acceptance, industry partners accompanied a real semester project.

Impressive technical expertise

As part of the internship, the students carried out practice-orientated projects in teams and applied modern Software Engineering methods. The topics were orientated towards the area of application of the respective companies, from IT to tourism to production.

They had the opportunity to opt for a software development project, a data project or a technology or method evaluation, or to choose a combination of these project types.

On 24 June 2022, the students presented their projects in the presence of all partners. The technical realisation and overall project management were assessed. The students were able to demonstrate their technical and social skills and impressed with their technical knowledge and ability to work in a team. As a result, all projects were successfully completed. Dipl. Ing. Christoph Fröschl, Head of Digital Architecture at INNIO Jenbacher GmbH & Co OG, was delighted: "I was very satisfied with the result and am particularly impressed by the technical expertise of the three project team members!"

The project internship in the Master's in Software Engineering was carried out for the first time in 2022, is offered annually in the summer semester and is a compulsory module in the curriculum. The industry partners involved were Casablanca Hotelsoftware GmbH, Hilti AG, Pfeifer Holding GmbH, Innio Jenbacher GmbH & Co OG, Interalp Touristik GmbH, ITH icoserve technology for healthcare GmbH, K-Businesscom AG, telecommunication software GmbH and World-Direct eBusiness solutions GmbH.
