Digitalisation know-how live at DIH West
In this event format, experts from business and science discussed with the online audience. This discussion was guided by central questions that dealt with the efficiency and resource conservation of digitalisation projects as well as stumbling blocks during implementation.
Michael Jäger, digital.tirol, Standortagentur Tirol, welcomed the guests and introduced the DIH West and its focal points. Ruth Breu, Scientific Director of DIH West, Department of Computer Science, University of Innsbruck, moderated the discussion between the experts:
- Markus Reitshammer, Managing Director of Re-Systems IT
- Stefan Schwarz, CTO of Bernard Gruppe ZT GmbH
- Gerd Kohlgruber, Head of Information Technology | TYROLIT Group
- Anton Rieder, Managing Partner of Rieder Bau GmbH & Co KG
- Oliver Som, Professor and Head of the Department of Innovation Management and Innovation Economics at the Management Center Innsbruck (MCI)
Facilitating entry into digitalisation
The discussion showed that the willingness to embrace digitalisation increases if the introduction is made easier through knowledge transfer, thus overcoming fears and barriers. Technological change affects the entire company and promises to be successful if it is anchored in the strategy of an SME, if employees are involved from the outset and, above all, if it is orientated towards the user, according to Oliver Som, Professor and Head of the Department of Innovation Management and Innovation Economics at the Management Center Innsbruck (MCI). Markus Reitsammer, RE-Systems IT, also recommends "breaking down an overall project into small sub-steps" and "moving step by step towards the company's goal" in order to maintain an overview of costs and efficiency. Anton Rieder is now not only a building contractor, but also an IT entrepreneur and offers software products on the market that increase the efficiency of construction projects. As a success factor for digitalisation, he recommends keeping internal processes agile and continuously improving software solutions within the company. Among other things, his software products aim to provide customers with the best possible support through new IT services.
As an interface to the digitalisation expertise of various research institutions in Tyrol, Vorarlberg and Salzburg, DIH West aims to make it easier for SMEs from a wide range of sectors to get started with digitalisation, to allay fears and reservations and to stimulate innovation as a result.
