Widening the Horizon of Task-Based Language Teaching

Under the auspices of the International Association for Task-Based Language Teaching (IATBLT), the 9th International Conference on Task-Based Language Teaching was held in Innsbruck, Austria.

From 29 to 31 August 2022, the conference brought together scholars and educators from all around the world and invited them to discuss both established and innovative approaches to TBLT. Inspired by the surrounding mountains, the conference encouraged us to both strengthen our understanding of the solid grounds of TBLT and to reach for new summits by “Widening the Horizon of Task-Based Language Teaching”.

Therefore, the conference focused on established TBLT approaches in foreign language classrooms as well as on the transfer of TBLT to other educational contexts like science education. Furthermore, task-based assessment and its implication for the (language) testing community were addressed.

We thank all participants for coming to Innsbruck and for joining TBLT 2022!

The 9th International Conference on Task-Based Language Teaching wasco-organized by the University of Innsbruck and the University of Graz. We thank our sponsors: University of Innsbruck (Vice Rector for Research, International Relations Office, Faculty of Teacher Education, Department of Subject-Specific Education, Canadian studies centre), Land Tirol (Abteilung Kultur), University of Graz, ERASMUS+ project DIGITASK4IC (and the DIGITASK web app), John Benjamins Publishing Company
