Sensational success at the International Earth Science Olympiad (IESO) in JINING, China, 2025
3 x silver medals and 4 x bronze medals (3 x times in the team competitions ITFI - International Team Field Investigation & ESP - Earth Science Project) and an incredible individual bronze med al (Leonardo Leschanz in the individual competition (Individual Test) are the result of this year's "International Earth Science Olympiad"! => https://ieso2025.cn/
The winners are:
- 3 x bronze - Leonardo Leschanz - Europagymnasium Klagenfurt
- 2 x silver - Clemens Querk - Peraugymnasium Villach
- 1 x silver and 1 x bronze - Aisha Sombati - Peraugymnasium Villach

On site in Jining, China were from left to right (Bernhard Sallay (Peraugymnasium Villach), Head of Delegation Team Austria: Christopher Wintschnig (PHK & BG/BRG Gymnasium St. Veit an der Glan) and Kirsten von Elverfeldt (AAU & HeiGIT),

31 nations (worldwide) and 111 students between the ages of 14 and 18 took part in this international Olympiad. Only the 4 best students from each country / nation travelled to the venue.
The students were invited to the Department of Geology in advance and trained there.

"Earth Science explains how our planet works, secures resources, protects against natural hazards, explains climate change and creates the basis for a sustainable future," says head of delegation Christopher Wintschnig about Earth Science.
