The project region of Upper Bavaria/Salzburg/Tyrol has an economic focus on the construction sector, which is supported by many small and medium-sized enterprises (crafts, trade, planning, services - also beyond the construction industry). The challenges posed by building regulations, changing climatic conditions, new technologies and the growing competitive environment mean that they are increasingly having to deal with innovation issues. The "R+I Alpine Construction Network" project develops and imparts missing competences, methods and know-how through cooperation with regional research institutions. The research and transfer programme is geared towards the needs of companies.

Activities in the overall project

  • Cross-border transfer network between companies, sectors and research institutions for the further development of Alpine construction expertise
  • Development of expertise for refurbishment solutions for smaller buildings
  • Guidelines with construction technology options > Model concepts
  • Collection of best practices, learning from innovative realisations
  • Qualification

Main tasks at the University of Innsbruck

The focus is on the sustainable step-by-step refurbishment of small residential buildings and tourism businesses. The respective renovation steps are to be optimised over time to achieve the overall goal of an economically and ecologically advantageous overall solution.

The project will analyse and document best-practice examples from Tyrol that have already been implemented. The technical and architectural measures will be prepared for tradespeople, contractors and other parties involved in construction and made available by means of guidelines, workshops and as part of university teaching.

The involvement of local partners in the field of "Alpine construction" and corresponding tourism businesses is most welcome, be they construction companies, craftsmen, operators of small tourism businesses or training centres. In addition, we are always looking for people interested in writing bachelor's or master's theses in the field of renovation.
