Hendrik Stanway at the Darmstädter Diskussionen

From March 23 to 25, 2026, the “Darmstädter Diskussionen—12th Interdisciplinary Doctoral Colloquium on Ancient Cultures” took place. In his lecture “Authentischer Bericht oder literarische Gestaltung? Herodots Erzählung der Perserzüge nach Griechenland,” Hendrik W. Stanway presented the findings of his dissertation project. After providing an overview of his research, he discussed in detail the method he developed for analyzing battle narratives in Herodotus and other Greek authors. He also explained the intellectual-historical implications of his project. The dissertation project is scheduled to be completed in May 2026.
