Bachelor's programme Philosophy at Faculty of Catholic Theology

The Bachelor's degree programme in Philosophy at the Faculty of Catholic Theology aims to provide a basic philosophical education with a particular focus on the fundamental religious questions of mankind. It enables students to reconstruct arguments in a systematic, analytical and critically-reflective way and to scrutinise their validity. The content is conveyed through open philosophising, which deals with all topics of significance in our time.

Course of study
The Bachelor's degree programme in Philosophy at Faculty of Catholic Theology comprises 180 ECTS-Credits. The degree entitles the holder to use the academic title Bachelor of Philosophy (B.Phil.).

A philosophy degree programme teaches analytical and systematic thinking on the fundamental questions of mankind, such as What is knowledge? What is truth? What is a (good) action? What is a conclusive argument? Is it rational to believe in God? Am I my body, my mind or both?
The general admission period for the summer semester 2026 is from 7.1.2026 to 5.2.2026.
The additional examination in Latin can also be taken after admission to the degree programme if this subject has not been successfully completed at a secondary school for at least 10 hours per week. Please note that this additional examination may not be the last examination of the degree programme.
