Research

The Department of Christian Philosophy is an internationally networked research institution with special expertise in areas such as metaphysics / ontology, epistemology, philosophy of science, philosophy of mind, logic and ethics, moral psychology and feminist philosophy. The Department has also gained an international reputation in the research and edition of source texts in philosophy and theology. Methodologically, we orientate ourselves on the conceptual and argumentative standards of analytical philosophy, whereby the openness of the discourse and the exchange with representatives of other disciplines and research areas is of particular concern to us.

A particular focus is on the philosophy of religion: philosophical reflection on the nature and rationality of religion in all its facets and on questions of worldview and orientation. The aim is not to engage in "Christian internal philosophy", but to enter into a dialogue on worldviews and to raise awareness of socio-political responsibility.
