The data protection delegates are the link between the respective organizational units and data protection coordination.
Who are the data protection delegates?
- Appointed by management (area manager)
- Function can also be assumed by management itself
- Responsibility for the proper processing of personal data remains with the area manager
- Liaison between the organizational units and data protection coordination
- Support data protection coordination in the implementation of data protection requirements
- Forward important data protection issues to data protection coordination
- Support cross-institutional solutions
What role do data protection officers play?
- Data protection officers do not have sole responsibility.
- All employees in an organizational unit are responsible for the proper processing of personal data.
- Data protection officers raise awareness of data protection among their colleagues.
- Data protection delegates ensure that their colleagues regularly attend training courses on data protection issues Data protection delegates inform their colleagues about important data protection issues Data protection delegates work closely with data protection coordinators, for example, helping to process requests from data subjects such as requests for information and deletion
What are the most important tasks?
Data protection officers ensure that data protection regulations are complied with:
- Information obligations
- Conclusion of data processing agreements
- Conclusion of joint controller agreements
- Notification of new/changed processing activities
- Forwarding of requests regarding data subject rights
- Immediate reporting of data protection incidents
