General data protection information
The issue of data protection is of great importance to the University of Innsbruck. For this reason, the protection of your personal data (hereinafter referred to as "pb data") is also an important concern for us.
When handling pb data, we observe all relevant regulations - in particular those of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Telecommunications Act (TKG) - as amended. In addition, we have taken the technical and organizational measures necessary for appropriate data security.
In the following, we would like to inform you about how we process your pb data. You will find an overview of our data processing here. Depending on your relationship to us, the respective data processing applies to you.
We are trying to prepare the information understandable, but if you have any questions or other comments, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Your Rights
If pb data is processed by you (collected, recorded, stored, evaluated, modified, read, queried, disclosed, disseminated, matched, linked, restricted, deleted, destroyed, etc.), you are a data subject within the meaning of the GDPR. As a data subject, you have the following rights against any data controller processing your pb data:
- Information (Art. 15 GDPR)
- Correction (Art. 16 GDPR)
- Deletion (Art. 17 GDPR)
- Restriction (Art. 18 GDPR)
- Data portability (Art. 20 GDPR)
- Objection (Art. 21. GDPR)
To exercise your GDPR rights, you must clearly identify yourself to prevent unauthorized access to your data. An email from your official university email address is considered sufficient proof. Otherwise, please provide proof of identity, such as a copy of a valid identification document, ensuring that unnecessary information, such as the ID number or photo, is redacted.
To expedite the process, please let us know in what context your data is stored with us (e.g., studies, event, user profile) and specify which data you would like to have deleted or modified.
You can find more detailed information about your data subject rights at Österreichichen Datenschutzbehörde.
Note on the right to object
You have the right to object to the processing of your personal data at any time on grounds relating to your particular situation, provided that it is based on Art. 6 (1) (e) GDPR (performance of a task in the public interest or exercise of official authority) or Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR (legitimate interests) (Art. 21 (1) GDPR).
As part of your objection, please inform us of the special circumstances on which you base your objection. After receipt of the objection, we will examine these circumstances as part of a new balancing of interests.
Further processing will only take place if we can prove compelling legitimate grounds that outweigh your interests, rights and freedoms, or if the processing serves to assert, exercise or defend legal claims. In the event of a legitimate objection, we will no longer process your personal data for the purposes in question.
If your personal data is processed for direct marketing purposes, you have the right to object to this processing at any time without giving reasons (Art. 21 para. 2 GDPR). This also applies to profiling, insofar as it is related to such direct advertising. Once you have received your objection, your personal data will no longer be processed for direct marketing purposes.
Complaint
If you believe that the processing of your pb data violates data protection law or that your data protection rights have otherwise been violated in any way, please contact us. This will enable us to address your concerns. However, you also have the right to contact the Austrian data protection authority at https://www.dsb.gv.at/kontakt.
