Persuasion in Transition?

Current Topics in Persuasion and Advertising Research

Annual Conference of the Advertising Communication Division, German Communication Association DGPuK
Date: 25 – 27 November 2026| Location: Kaiser-Leopold-Saal, Karl-Rahner-Platz 3, 2nd Floor, Innsbruck (University of Innsbruck)

Advertising and persuasive communication are undergoing rapid transformation. Technological advances, evolving media environments, and shifting societal expectations are fundamentally changing how persuasive messages are created, distributed, and experienced. Developments such as data-driven personalization, immersive media environments, artificial intelligence, and platformized communication systems are reshaping advertising practice and challenging established theoretical frameworks.

At the same time, scholars increasingly examine the ethical, societal, and cultural implications of persuasive communication—from algorithmic targeting and data privacy to sustainability, diversity, and political influence. These developments call for new theoretical perspectives, methodological innovations, and interdisciplinary approaches to understand how persuasion operates in contemporary media systems.

Registration for the conference is binding and can be completed by October 31, 2026. On-site registration will also be available, but without the early-bird discount.
