Further organisational information:
- A portrait and group photo will be taken of all candidates before the ceremony. The official photographer will also be present at the ceremony. You can order all photos after the Academic Ceremony via the online shop at www.diefotografen.at.
- Please use the photo areas in the foyer on the ground floor for your private photos.
- Please note, animals are not allowed at the University of Innsbruck (exception: guide animals).
- Please do not bring bulky items such as suitcases and large bags to the ceremony or leave them at the coat racks in front of the auditorium.
- On the days of the Academic Ceremonies, there will be several ceremonies held. For logistical reasons, it is therefore not possible to celebrate with a toast in or in front of the building. However, you are welcome to use the so-called ‘Boulevard’ (area between Ágnes-Heller-Haus and the Inn). There are also plenty of recycling bins there. Please separate your rubbish according to the exemplary practice at the University of Innsbruck.
- The Ceremonies will be held in German.
The first verse of the traditional student song “Gaudeamus igitur” is an obligatory part of the ceremony. We look forward to welcoming many singers - including your relatives!
II: Gaudeamus igitur,
juvenes dum sumus. :II
Post jucundum juventutem,

- When can I register?
After you have collected (or received by mail) your final academic documents, especially the notification letter, and have confirmed the acceptance, you can register via LFU account / My Forms - Meine Formulare. Please also have your transfer or payment confirmation for your diploma fees ready as a PDF file.
- Why do I need the notification letter?
The notification letter (= "certificate") legally confirms that you have completed your studies. It's that specific document you can present to an employer, for example.
Therefore, you can register for an academic ceremony or for a written award as soon as the decision has been announced (= as soon as you have confirmed the takeover of the notification letter). - My final grade has been entered. Why can't I register for an academic ceremony or a written conferment yet?
* Once your final grade has been entered, the "Prüfungsamt" (Examination Office) may need several days to check that you have completed all the courses according to your study plan.
* The documents prepared by the "Prüfungsamt" are signed by your (study) dean. This may also take several days.
* Afterward, you will receive an email from your "Prüfungsamt" informing you that you can collect your final documents or have them sent to you. As soon as you have collected your final documents, you can register via your LFU account. - Which document will I receive at an academic ceremony or at a written award ceremony?
You will receive an additional certificate, which will be presented to you or, in the case of a written award ceremony, sent to you. - When exactly will my academic ceremony take place on my desired date?
As soon as all registrations have been received, we can divide the groups. It is important to us that as many graduates of a faculty as possible can celebrate together.
Your personal time slot depends on the number of registrations from your faculty as well as the availability of your faculty's professors. - When will I find out my time slot?
By the end of the week of the registration deadline at the latest, you will receive an email from us with the exact time of your academic ceremony and other important information. - Academic gowns
Representatives of the University of Innsbruck (Rector, Vice-Rectors, Deans, Study Deans, Professors, etc.) wear academic gowns. At Austrian universities, it is not customary for graduates to wear academic gowns. Private photos and video recordings
We organise professional photographers who will take individual portrait photos of you immediately before the academic celebration, as well as a group photo of your entire timeslot. A photographer will then accompany the entire ceremony. You can select and purchase these photos via the photographers' website.
Additional private photos and film recordings are possible at any time.
