Fischer and Fischer Taschenbuch in Frankfort on the Main; focus: early modern times, contemporary history and european history, 1988–2011 editor of the series „Die Zeit des Nationalsozialismus“ (so called "Schwarze Reihe"), with more than 250 volumes until 2011
- 1996–2011 with Wolfgang Benz (as ed.) and Rebekka Habermas development of the concept for the series „Europäische Geschichte“ (36 volumes until 2011)
- 1989–1994 founder and organizer of the „Frankfurter Historik-Vorlesungen“
