Hands-on research, scale model experiments and intense scientific research in various hydraulic engineering fields are currently underway at the Hydraulic Engineering Department at the University of Innsbruck. Here are a few of the topics that are currently being researched here in our facilities:
     - Utilization of Hydropower
     - Dam Safety
     - Sediment Transport Processes
     - Flood Forecasting Models
     - Flood Protection
     - Numerical Simulation
     - Physical Scale Model Tests
Basic research is also being conducted in avalanche simulation and artificial surf-waves. The Hydraulic Research Laboratory at the University is never empty. Young engineers as well as seasoned professors and Ph.Ds. have their own models and experiments running in the lab and there always seem to be students helping out and gaining experience.
