Chemical Physics

We explore chemical reaction mechanisms under idealized conditions. We investigate the nature of chemical bonds and explain a multitude of phenomena, ranging from photochemical ageing of sea salt aerosols in the atmosphere via molecular catalysts and iron bearing molecules in space to functional polymers.

Shan's and Marcos' photodissociation spectrum of FeOH+ is now published

in the Michael A. Duncan Festschrift of J. Phys. Chem. A. With this data, it becomes possible to estimate the lifetime of this potentially important molecular ion against photodissociation in the interstellar medium.
