Necessity of the needs assessment

The ZID manages over 300 software products on over 1,000 PCs at all university locations. The survey is therefore carried out annually in order to prevent an increasing accumulation of programmes and files that are no longer required and to counteract the resulting slowdown of the systems. This enables us to create efficient working conditions for teaching staff and students.

Web form / VIS application as a prerequisite

Via the VIS web application all software requests can be recorded centrally and processed in a targeted manner. Any requests communicated outside of the web form (via e-mail, telephone, in person) may be lost and may not be traceable.

Complete the application in person or authorise someone else to do so

As the course director, you know best which software you need for your course. If you have any questions about your application, we can contact you directly.
However, you are also welcome to ask other members of staff in your organisational unit to enter your software requirements.

Affected classrooms

The software requirements survey and the programmes requested apply to classrooms whose PCs are managed centrally by the ZID. Rooms that contain ZID computers but whose software is managed by the respective organisational unit (institute, department, working group) are not affected by this survey. Please contact the person responsible in your organisational unit.

Similarly, no programmes that are required for your own work PC should be specified in this survey. Please also contact the person responsible in your organisational unit or On-site services for this.
