MA Project Work in Specialised Translation

Course 613046 Project Work in Specialised Translation (always during the summer semester)

(for master's degree students specialising in specialised translation)

This course must be attended by all master's degree candidates before completing the MA programme. This project work corresponds to compulsory module 5b (see curriculum, p. 5). It only has to be completed once and is always offered in the summer semester. The course serves as preparation for the exam in Specialisation in Specialised Translation. An overall grade will only be submitted once both parts of the exam have been successfully completed (see also the repetition regulations below); Participation in the course is taken into account concerning assessment (1 preliminary meeting + 5 block sessions of 90 minutes each).
 

Registration requirements for the course 613046 (winter and summer semester) VU Project Work:
Positive completion of compulsory module 2 and compulsory modules 1A to 4A (see MA curriculum in Translation Studies)

Registration for the master's degree exam in the specialisation Specialised Translation

Official registration for the master’s degree exam in the specialisation Specialised Translation ensues by e-mail, which must be sent to both the Coordinator of Studies (astrid.schmidhofer@uibk.ac.at) and the examiners within the deadline for registration. The email must include notification of the intention to take the exam on a respective exam date and stipulation of the exam topic.

The registration deadlines for the exam are:

  • 15th of December (for the exam date in February)
  • 30th of April (for the exam date in June)
  • 30th of June (for the exam date in September)

Regulations for repetition of exam

If one part of the exam has not been assessed positively, only the second, negatively assessed part of the exam must be repeated. Positive results are valid for one year after completing the Project Work in Specialised Translation course; after this one-year period, all parts of the exam and the course must be repeated.

  • Monday 30th of June 2025 (into German) and Wednesday 2nd of July (into all other languages) in seminar room 5/PC room, 3rd floor, Department of Translation Studies from 9am–1pm
     
  • Monday 22nd of September 2025 (into German) and Wednesday 24th of September 2025 (into all other languages) in seminar room 5/PC room, 3rd floor, Department of Translation Studies from 9am–1pm
     
  • Monday 23rd of February 2026 (into German) and Wednesday 25th of February 2026 (into all other languages) in seminar room 5/PC room, 3rd floor, Department of Translation Studies from 9am–1pm
