Biography
Dr. Harald Puhr is an Assistant Professor of International Management at the University of Innsbruck/Department of Strategic Management, Marketing and Tourism. In 2023, Harald spent time as a Visiting Assitant Proefessor at the ESG Initiative at the Wharton School (University of Pennsylvania). He received his PhD in International Business and an MSc in International Management from Vienna University of Economics and Business (WU Vienna). As part of the Erasmus+ program, he was a Visiting Lecturer at the University of Sarajevo (Bosnia and Herzegovina), Royal University of Phnom Penh (Cambodia), and Gadjah Mada University (Indonesia).
Research Interests
Harald's research interests relate to global strategy and international finance. In particular, he is intrigued by firms' approaches to managing risks in the global business environment and how they generate opportunities based on these uncertainties. Within this area, he tries to connect a stakeholder-oriented perspective with a strategic view on corporate structure.
In addition, Harald is fascinated by novel methodologies that explore new and innovative sources of data. Together with WU Vienna's Jakob Müllner, he collaborates on the globaltrends project that uses data from Google Trends to measure the internationalization of firms, individuals, products, and social phenomena. As part of this project, he developed the globaltrends package for R.
