PEARL – Interns explore their work and learning
Our book *Opening Up the Learning Space: Work Placements Together* is available in print and online
Compulsory work placements have now become a firmly established part of the curriculum at many vocational secondary and sixth-form colleges. Using a connectivity-oriented approach to work placement pedagogy, the authors develop a specific perspective on the design of teaching and learning processes in work placements that complement practical experience. The workplace placement learning environment is understood as a conglomerate of learning locations, activities and phases, centred on learning and working within the host organisation. Opening up this learning space requires both a commitment from the key stakeholders – the school and the company – and an interconnection between the measures described in this book at both a strategic and operational level. A toolkit supports readers in implementing this connectivity-oriented perspective within their own professional context.
