In close cooperation with the Curatorium Pro Agunto, the Federal Monuments Office and the planning company REVITAL, restoration and renovation work has been carried out in the Aguntum Archaeological Park, which was built under the leadership of Dr Leo Gomig, since 2013.
The scientifically sound presentation of the findings is being realised under consideration of the conservation requirements (conservator Franz Brunner). Since 2017, the knowledge gained from this project has also been applied to the restoration project "The Episcopal Church of Lavant. Research - Restoration - Mediation". In this way, an attempt is being made to present the archaeological findings in a way that is as true to the original as possible, durable in terms of restoration and aesthetically pleasing.
In addition to these activities on the open-air site, the Aguntum Museum is constantly being expanded and the scientific results and issues discussed in international workshops. Most recently, Dealer forum of Aguntum was integrated into the archaeological park and officially opened.
Aguntum Archaeological Park outdoor area
The redesign of the Aguntum Archaeological Park, which has been supervised by the Curatorium Pro Agunto (Dr Leo Gomig) since 2013, enables a contemporary presentation of the excavation findings. Following excavation and documentation, most of the ancient building structures will be brought back underground and recreated on the surface as faithfully as possible. The design of the park area is being driven forward primarily by the Curatorium Pro Agunto, which began upgrading the archaeological park back in the 1990s with the support of the Department of Archaeology. This was recently integrated into the archaeological park and officially opened.

Aguntum Museum
The Aguntum Museum, completed in 2006 by the Curatorium Pro Agunto, is scientifically supervised by the Aguntum Department of Archaeological Studies. Almost 15 years after its opening, the museum is currently being redesigned, the first step of which is the presentation of finds from the current excavations in the centre of the municipium.

The "bishop's church" of Lavant
Due to its location on the mountain and the way the ruins are embedded in the landscape, the early Christian church of Lavant is a tourist attraction in East Tyrol. In recent decades, the state of preservation of the building has gradually deteriorated, necessitating extensive conservation measures. In collaboration with a team of archaeologists, restorers, building researchers and material scientists, the church was re-examined and presented to the public at restored finding.
Aguntum workshops
In the course of the Aguntum workshops, regional and supra-regional topics are alternately addressed and discussed in an international workshop in Aguntum that is open to the public. The workshops are published in the Harrassowitz-Verlag series "Ager Aguntinus. Historical-archaeological research".
