The minor Methods of Empirical Language Data Analysis is an additional offering for Bachelor's students at the University of Innsbruck for whom language data such as press releases, everyday conversations, medieval documents or Twitter tweets represent important sources or empirical material for their academic work, and who wish to acquire fundamental methodological skills for dealing with a broad spectrum of linguistic manifestations for their studies or for a current, planned or desired professional activity.

In this minor you will learn methodological tools for collecting, processing and evaluating language data and familiarise yourself with the possibilities of linguistic analysis. The minor includes courses that introduce you to text and conversational linguistics, grammar and media communication, as well as courses that allow you to delve deeper into selected topics such as applied linguistics or digital humanities.
