Unit for Scientific Staff

In the Unit for Scientific Staff, we support all researchers and lecturers who are subject to the Austrian Universities' collective agreement, throughout their entire employment relationship - from the job advertisement to termination or retirement. We see ourselves as a service-oriented point of contact for scientific staff and ensure that all personnel-related matters are handled correctly, transparently as well as reliably and are happy to advise you.

The unit for Scientific Staff supports researchers who are subject to the Austrian Universitie's collective agreement, throughout their entire employment relationship - from the job advertisement to termination or retirement.
Our tasks include, among others:
- Job management and advertisements - such as keeping records of vacancies or processing advertisement procedures and reviewing appointment offers.
- Employment contracts and salary issues - drawing up employment contracts, correct salary categorisation taking into account previous periods of service, calculating personnel costs and handling secondary activities, anniversary bonuses and other additional benefits for employees, and much more.
- Tax and social security matters - monitoring and advice on income tax and social security issues.
- Advice and special regulations - e.g. on terminated contracts, secondary employment, global budget projects or labour law issues.
- Absence management - e.g: leaves of absence, parental leave.
- Termination of employment relationships - from deadlines for terminated contracts and cancellations to holiday replacement benefit calculations and retirements.
We see ourselves as a service-orientated contact point for scientific staff and ensure that all personnel-related matters are handled correctly, transparently as well as reliably and will be happy to advise you.
- University professors
- Researchers during their qualification phase (assistant professors, associate professors)
- University assistants: postdoc positions, dissertation positions
- Senior Lecturer, Senior Scientist, Guest Professor (In Austria, these researchers do not have the same tasks and functions as they have in the UK or USA)
- Research assistants within the framework of global budget projects of the university (promotion of young researchers, FemCareer Fellowship, HSRM and the like)
