Large tech companies such as Meta and Google are powerful gatekeepers in the area of information provision. They act according to economically driven criteria. Content moderation is carried out by algorithms - beyond democratic control and journalistic quality standards. It is all about attention, data collection and the controlled arbitrariness of information. The question remains: Who will prevail in this race for attention and influence, and with what consequences?

Master's students from the Elective Pact Media Practice (Department of Media, Society and Communication), led by Dr Natascha Zeitel-Bank, will discuss the platform economy, gatekeeper diversity, the role of AI and the future of independent and verified information in a digitalised public sphere with experts.
