Timna Moser joined the Department of Media, Society, and Communication in April 2026 as part of the ANR-FWF project “Influencers and Politics in the Digital Age – INFLUPOL: Exploring Dynamics between Social Media Influencers, Political Organizations, and Citizens,” led by Univ.-Prof. Mag. Dr. Uta Rußmann.
She is currently pursuing a PhD in “Social and Political Sciences” with a focus on communication. Her research examines misleading and manipulative communication practices (“dark patterns”) used by political social media influencers (PSMIs).
Timna Moser is a member of the “Innsbruck Doctoral College Politics, Power, and Language” and a tutor for the student representative body “Doctorate/PhD in Social and Political Sciences.”
Previously, she earned her master’s degree in “Media, Society, and Communication” at the University of Innsbruck. In her master’s thesis, titled “Mobilizing Europe for the EU Elections: Comparing the 2019 and 2024 European Parliament Campaign Videos,” she measured the impact—in terms of attention and evoked emotions—of European Parliament campaign videos using eye-tracking and facial expression analysis.
In addition to her academic work, Timna Moser volunteers for various causes, including the European Parliament’s together.eu campaign, where she organizes monthly discussion events. In May 2026, she was awarded the 2026 European State Prize in the “Shaping Europe” category at the Federal Chancellery for her radio program “EU, was geht? – What connects us across Europe.”
