Research at the Faculty of Teacher Education

The research profile of the faculty is based on the individual fields of activity in the area of teacher education. It ranges from teaching-related, teacher training-specific to policy and system management-related research topics in the field of educational science, from (foreign) language acquisition-specific to test-based in the field of foreign language didactics, from scientific and technical current social developments in the STEM subjects to humanities topics and interreligious research activities.

In detail, special topics from teacher education, school and teaching research are taken up and dealt with from an empirical perspective - partly through various doctoral and third-party funded projects. Despite the diversity of the projects, the overall aim is to focus on applied research in order to fulfil the requirement of research-led teaching. On the one hand, we endeavour to place publications in high-ranking national and international journals and, on the other, to serve the transfer of knowledge into educational practice through corresponding publications and lectures. In addition, a "research attitude" is sought on the part of the students. The faculty has gained national and international visibility through research-based development projects, which are primarily intended to drive forward system development. Examples include the implementation of the reform of the partially standardised written school-leaving and diploma examination (SRDP) in the area of foreign languages, the Leadership Academy for the professionalisation of managers throughout Austria and the interreligious approaches to religious education and didactics.
