A warm welcome!

The Faculty of Teacher Education - in cooperation with partners within and outside the university - fulfils its task of training the best possible qualified teachers for secondary education in western Austria and South Tyrol. In doing so, it provides future generations with access to education that expands their options for action as individuals and in the community and promotes excellence.

The structure of the Faculty of Teacher Education in the organisational form of a "Professional School" is due to the desire to create a suitable location for the special features of profession-related university education, which on the one hand does justice to the basic academic structure of a university, but on the other hand opens up new opportunities to focus teaching and research more strongly on problem- and application-oriented interdisciplinary issues.

The Faculty of Teacher Education thus represents an independent teaching, research and organisational unit at the university, which is dedicated to the interdisciplinary training and research needs of teachers - currently mainly in the area of secondary education.
