Ombudsperson for PhD students

PhD studies could be a great episode of your scientific career in a stimulating environment, but sometimes they can also be an overwhelming and somewhat frustrating endeavor. Compared to the undergraduate studies, PhD students are often not that well connected. At the same time, there are huge differences between the way various supervisors lead their groups and approach their duties. If you would like to discuss some of the challenges you face, I am here for you.

You can approach me for example if you would like:
...to discuss any worries with respect to the progress of your PhD project.
...to discuss the dynamics between you and your supervisor.
...to discuss any challenges you face in teaching.
...to understand your rights and duties better.
...or just to have a chat about your PhD with someone who was once in your place.

In the case of a concrete issue, we can sketch a solution together or I can refer you to respective offices, depending on the nature of your concern. Unless you give me an explicit permission, I will keep our discussion fully confidential.
