As one of the three Degree Awarding Universities, the University of Innsbruck hosted a three-day online meeting in March to further develop the planned joint Master's programme "Digital Society, Social Innovation and Global Citizenship".
The international and interdisciplinary joint degree programme focuses on the areas of education, communication and culture. The programme enables international students to acquire the relevant knowledge and skills to act as change agents in a time of social upheaval and transformation through the innovative interweaving of different disciplines and the transparent handling of values.
At a labour-intensive, fruitful meeting of the three partner universities Università degli Studi di Napoli Federico II (UNINA), Palacký University Olomouc (UPOL) and Innsbruck from 20 to 22 March, fundamental contractual agreements and orientations were discussed and fixed, such as the disciplinary approaches or the qualification profile of the graduates, accompanied by the formulation of corresponding learning outcomes. Above all, however, the comprehensive curriculum of this international and interdisciplinary joint degree programme was further developed and concretised.
The integration of the concept of the so-called Collaboratorium (a digitally supported variant of the "flipped classroom") is a special feature of this joint Master's programme: This format provides for phases of asynchronous preparation at the students' own pace as well as synchronous face-to-face learning in hybrid form - with students on site and students participating online. This blended learning format utilises the advantages of face-to-face teaching and attempts to compensate for any weaknesses of hybrid courses.
By creating innovative spaces and settings for both digital and face-to-face learning and teaching, the international joint degree programme aims to enable inclusion, studyability and cross-university teamwork.
