Last week, we welcomed Bart Deygers and Laura Anne Schildt from Ghent University to kick off our collaborative WEAVE research project "Language Tests for Migration and Integration", co-funded by the Belgian FWO and the Austrian FWF.
Over the next four years, the team consisting of Bart Deygers (Co-PI, Ghent University), Laura Schildt (Ghent University), Benjamin Kremmel (Co-PI, LTRGI), Eva Konrad (LTRGI) and Viktoria Ebner (LTRGI) will conduct a comprehensive comparative analysis of language policies and language tests with a particular focus on Austria and Belgium.
The bilateral project takes a closer look at the rationales, constructs and operationalizations of language tests for migrants, as well as the social impact of integration policies and language tests on migrants' lives.
The research, which aims to promote fair language testing practices in migration contexts, and support equitable integration processes, will also contribute to one of the University of Innsbruck’s key research areas in the research center “Migration and Globalisation”.
