Reforming Language Assessment Research

The Language Testing Research Groupo Innsbruck (LTRGI) proudly hosted the 45th Language Testing Research Colloquium (LTRC 2024) in Innsbruck, Austria. LTRC 2024 brought together more than 350 researchers from 36 countries to address present themes in reforming language assessment systems and research. The conference was held at the University of Innsbruck from July 1st to July 5th, 2024.

The event addressed questions about how new technologies and artificial intelligence are reshaping language testing and assessment. Discussions emphasized the importance of establishing a more open and transparent research culture and demonstrated how language tests can help reduce inequalities. The keynote speakers Prof. Lynda Taylor (University of Bedfordshire), Prof. Micheline Chalhoub-Deville (University of North Carolina at Greensboro), and Prof. Antony Kunnan (Carnegie Mellon University) shed light on critical issues of fairness, justice, and social responsibility in the field.

We'd like to thank all who made LTRC 2024 possible: ILTA, sponsors, our student helper team, and all presenters and attendees that traveled from near and far to make it such a wonderful experience!
