Mission Statement
Innsbruck Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (IAI)
The Innsbruck Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (IAI) serves as a platform to connect artificial intelligence (AI) research conducted at the University of Innsbruck. Furthermore, it aims at providing external visibility of AI activities at the University. From its very beginning, AI has been an interdisciplinary research subject integrating disciplines from Mathematics and Statistics, over Physics, the Natural Sciences in general, the Life Sciences to Computer Science with all its subdisciplines.
In recent years, and due to its growing capabilities, AI research has become more and more relevant also for almost all other scientific disciplines including Social Sciences, Economy, Law, Civil Engineering, and the Humanities.
While the Innsbruck Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (IAI) regards itself primarily as a platform for basic research on AI, it also seeks to be an entry point for researchers who want to apply concepts of AI to address research questions in their respective scientific domains. In this way, the center will promote novel joint research in the form of publications and projects, and will provide important infrastructure and expertise for researchers at different stages of their scientific careers.
