The medieval seven-branched „Agnes“ candelabra in the Klosterneuburg monastery, Austria : Materials science and Cultural Heritage studies
The famous medieval “Agnes” candelabra is a remarkable piece of high medieval bronze casting. It is closely related with the Babenberg Duke Leopold III and his wife, the emperor’s daughter Agnes, who donated to piece to the monastery around 1130 AD. Within this project we target questions connected to its production and use, provenance of the metal and medieval exchange networks.
