The financial scientist and behavioural researcher Prof. Dr Michael Kirchler from the Department of Banking and Finance at the Faculty of Business and Management at the University of Innsbruck provided exciting insights into our decision-making behaviour. In his interactive lecture, he presented scientific findings in real time that help us to make our own daily decisions more consciously. Prof Kirchler's research findings are highly regarded and widely cited.
Forum Förderkreis on 29 January
Associate Professor Andreas Flora presented his analyses and designs under the title: "Extreme Alpine valleys | pressure of use and new favourable locations". He dealt with the question of how our Alpine region can manage the balancing act between heavy tourist utilisation, the associated prosperity and people's desire for an intact natural environment.
Forum Förderkreis on 20 November
Emeritus Professor Heribert Insam spoke about how microorganisms influence our daily lives. He also explained how we can utilise the positive properties of microorganisms for our own well-being, for example through our diet.
Forum Förderkreis from 5 June
For our last Zoom lecture as part of the Forum Förderkreis 1669, we invited Justus Piater, Professor at the Department of Computer Science and Head of the Digital Science Center at the University of Innsbruck. In his lecture, he explained the technology behind current AI applications and showed what possibilities artificial intelligence offers and where the limits lie. He also gave an outlook on the future of this key technology.

Jürgen Huber, Professor at the Department of Banking and Finance, reflected on turbo capitalism and the ideology of constant growth. He showed how and why the market economy "works" - and where the limits lie. He addressed the question of whether alternatives such as de-growth, the common good and a local circular economy are possible.

Political scientist Professor Gerhard Mangott spoke about the big questions surrounding the war in Ukraine: What is the balance of power? How effective or harmful are the sanctions? How should the West behave and what are the prospects for negotiations? Who will emerge from the conflict as the geopolitical loser or winner?

Internet law expert Professor Kettemann spoke about how human rights are treated online, how platforms exercise power and govern opinions, how better rules can be created for online spaces and, of course, why Elon Musk produces good electric cars but is a failure as a social media manager.

In November, Prof. Maria-Luise Frick gave a lecture on freedom of expression in times of cancel culture and political correctness as part of the Sponsors' Forum and was then available to answer questions and discuss issues with supporters.

Our last Zoom meeting as part of the Förderkreis 1669 forum was centred on inflation. Jürgen Huber, Professor at the Department of Banking and Finance at the University of Innsbruck, gave a presentation on the causes and effects of the current wave of inflation and ventured a forecast for the future. He also discussed how money can and should be invested in such uncertain times, weighing up gold, property and shares in particular.

Quantum computing is regarded as one of the most important future key technologies across many sectors. Professor Dr Rainer Blatt from the Institute for Quantum Information at the University of Innsbruck is one of the world's leading scientists in this field. Professor Blatt gave an online lecture as part of the Fourm Förderkreis 1669. He explained where developments stand today and what you as an entrepreneur can expect from the new technology.

University Professor Kurt Matzler is one of the leading experts in strategic management. As part of our new interactive knowledge transfer format, he demonstrated exclusively for our supporters why certain companies succeed in disruption and why others fail.
