Workshop on Heat Pumps in Plus-Energy Districts

In the framework of the FFG project IEA HPT A61, the Unit of Energy Efficient Building organized with AIT and AEE INTEC the workshop on heat pumps in positive energy districts at AIT, where innovative solutions for positive energy districts were discussed.

On September 10, 2025, the AIT Austrian Institute of Technology hostedin cooperation with University of Innsbruck and AEE INTEC the workshop “Heat Pumps in Positive Energy Districts” in Vienna. The aim was to discuss current research findings and practical experiences regarding the integration of heat pumps into energy-optimized district solutions. The Project lead of the national FFG project IEA HPT A61, Fabian Ochs, University of Innsbruck contributed the experience from the project “Towards PED Innsbruck Campagne”, demonstrating how innovative heat pump technologies can help achieve positive energy targets.

In addition to international results from IEA HPT Annex 61, that were presented by OA Carsten Wemhoener, concrete implementation examples such as asphalt collectors and hybrid LSC systems were presented. The event provided a platform for exchange between research, planning, and implementation, and concluded with discussions during the joint buffet.
