EEB at Long Night of Research in Tirol

At the Long Night of Research 2026 in Tyrol, visitors experienced energy efficiency in an interactive way. A hands-on building model clearly demonstrated the impact of insulation.

Interaktiv Lernen: Altbau vs. Passivhaus

Wasser als bildhafte Darstellung für Wärme

On April 24, 2026, the Unit of Energy-Efficient Building research group at the University of Innsbruck presented an interactive exhibit at the Architecture Auditorium on Campus Technik (station 5226). Visitors used their own muscle power to generate heat, represented by water flowing into two different building models. The required water flow to reach a target temperature illustrated the difference in heat loss between an unrenovated old building and a passive house. The demonstration made it clear that proper insulation can reduce energy demand by up to 90%, while the use of a heat pump can additionally harness environmental heat.
