UCI Jordan Center for Persian Studies and Culture: Fifth Payravi Conference. Contextualizing Iranian History: The Sasanians (ca. 224-650 CE) – Aspects – Tendencies – Trajectories, organised by Touraj Daryaee, Robert Rollinger, Matthew Canepa, 27.03 – 28.03.2023, HG 1030.

The from the family of the late Ali-Asghar Payravi financed fifth Payravi conference of the UCI Jordan Center for Persian Studies and Culture was held from the 27th to 28th of March 2023 with the title: „Contextualizing Iranian History: The Sasanians (ca. 224-650 CE) – Aspects – Tendencies – Trajectories“. The Organisation was done by Prof. Touraj Daryaee, Univ.-Prof. Dr. Robert Rollinger, wM and Prof. Matthew Canepa. New scientific perspectives on the Sasanian Empire were explored in front of a plenum of interdisciplinary and international researchers. It was also possible to follow the given papers via Zoom. From the University of Innsbruck, Robert Rollinger as Organiser and speaker of introductory remarks as well as Clemens Steinwender from the Doktoratskolleg “Entangled Antiquities” were present. Clemens Steinwender talked about first conclusions of his Dissertation project und put the Caucasian passes and their role as a contact zone between “Empire” and “Borderland” in the focus of his lecture.
