Important information for the winter and summer semesters
For all courses with examinations (e.g. PS, SE):
- Winter semester: 01 September to 21 September
- Summer semester: 01 February to 21 February
For all non-examination courses (e.g. lectures, SL):
- Winter semester: 01 September to the end of the semester or until the end of the respective course
- Summer semester: 01 February until the end of the semester or until the end of the respective course
For late registrations, please send an email to the course instructor.
Attendance is compulsory for all courses with an examination character such as proseminars (PS), seminars (SE) and practical courses (PR).
We strongly recommend attending the corresponding compulsory PS (or PR) in the same semester as the lectures.
Examinations
The written examination dates can be found in LFU:online under the respective course number. The registration process is the same as for the course itself. Please note the registration deadlines given there.
You can repeat an exam up to four times. The third and fourth repetition of an examination must be organised by a commission.
You will receive the form for this from the relevant examination office and must be returned there at least 2 weeks before the examination with the signatures (or confirmation emails) of the examination board.
Recommendations for the examination board:
- 1st or 2nd examiner: Head of the respective lecture
- 1st or 2nd examiner: Lecturer who has held the VO or a related PS in the last five years
Chair: habilitated member of the institute
Entry in the summer semester
From a formal and legal point of view, it is also possible to start the Bachelor's degree programme in the summer semester.
The StEOP courses (Linear Algebra & Analysis) are also offered in the summer semester as online courses with video recordings and a moderated discussion forum.
However, the recommended course of study is geared towards a start in the winter semester, which is why there may be overlaps in the subsequent semesters.
For advice on the course of study in the event of a lateral entry, please contact the study officer.
