To mark the 75th anniversary of Obergurgl as a university campus, the Alpine Research Centre Obergurgl, in collaboration with the Botanical Garden, the Transferstelle Wissenschaft – Wirtschaft – Gesellschaft and the Institute of Art History, is presenting the exhibition OBERIRDISCH – UNTERIRDISCH: Plant Images by Hugo M. Schiechtl and Stories that Go Deep. We look forward to welcoming you to the opening on 2 July at the University of Innsbruck’s Botanical Garden.

Along a path through the Innsbruck Botanical Garden, we present a selection of botanical illustrations by the renowned Austrian botanist and bioengineer Hugo M. Schiechtl, highlighting what is otherwise hidden: the relationship between plants and the soil.
Particularly fascinating is the direct comparison between the illustrations and the living plants growing along the path.
The exhibition was created as a satellite exhibition, designed specifically for the Innsbruck Botanical Garden, to complement the major Hugo M. Schiechtl exhibition marking the 75th anniversary of the Obergurgl Alpine Research Station.
