Research Centre Education - Generation - Lifecourse

Fresh perspectives and innovative research for new learning worlds in Europe

Established in 2005, the Research Centre Education – Generation – Lifecourse engages in critically reflexive and action-oriented research and theory-building on the key meanings of education and training in European knowledge and civil societies. In both qualitative and quantitative terms, education and training are becoming increasingly significant for all spheres of life, raising fundamental questions about the shaping of teaching and learning processes both on the level of the subject as well as in social contexts. The emergence of an internally open Europe (after 1989) and the implications of globalisation processes have led the Research Centre to give its research and networking activities a comparative intercultural orientation. A clustered, network-based and incremental development strategy provides a positive dynamic for research activities at multiple levels.
