Funding Granted by the Austrian Science Fund (FWF)

The project “Language Tests for Migration and Integration”, submitted by Benjamin Kremmel has been awarded funding by the Austrian Science Fund (FWF).

The project, co-submitted and co-led with Dr Bart Deygers from Ghent University as part of the bilateral WEAVE funding scheme, is funded with 460.405€ by FWF (FWF link) and 573.733€ by FWO.

It aims to analyze the rationale, operationalization, constructs, and impacts of language testing within migration and integration policies. In collaboration with the colleagues from the Ghent University, the project will conduct a comparative policy analysis between Austria and Belgium and seek to evaluate the validity and implications of Migration and Integration Language Tests (MILTs), contributing to both academic scholarship and evidence-based policymaking. By closely examining language tests used in migration contexts, it hopes to support more equitable and transparent practices.

The project will start this fall, and will involve PhD opportunities, so keep a look out for our job ads in the coming months!
